You can disable RR in the menu upon startup but apparently it's bugged and doesn't work. I know it's going for historical accuracy but it's rather annoying not knowing when I will reach the 'high' period in-game and gain access to some decent Feudal units rather than my levies which are beyond useless. My only real gripe is the recruitment system (known as Real Recruitment/RR in SS). If I recall right, Nottingham is two turns from building a barracks that will give me two decent quality troops. (Highlanders - 4 attack and 8 defense) vs my Spear Militia (2 attack and 10 defense). I don't have access to many good units yet (basic levies really) so taking back York will be a challenge as the Scots have a full stack garrisoned there and ready to defend with their better quality troops.

Right now Nottingham is producing as many troops as possible but things are somewhat bleak. France and Scotland are allies as well which add's to the mix. I didn't really like it, but so far (as England to learn the ropes) in the Early Era I've lost York to Scotland and France is besieging Caen almost every turn. Yup, much better than retro (unless you want a better vanilla experience). 2K A Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia.844 A Total War Saga: Fall of the Samurai.
